James is the Principal of James Button & Co. He is an expert in the field of Licensing, Environmental Health and Public Health. He has considerable Local Government and NHS experience gained at Manchester City, South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Councils and Manchester Health Authority.
In 1996 he was instrumental in setting up the Local Government Licensing Forum which is now the Institute of Licensing. Consultant with James Button & Co. Shire Solicitor at Powys County Council. She has a wealth of experience and is a popular lecturer.
Jayne Foxley is a solicitor who has worked for Local Authorities for 17 years in Dorset and Mid Wales. She also has experience of working in the Magistrates' Court Service. She is the Shire Solicitor based in Brecon for Powys County Council.
Her work in connection with Licensing covers all aspects of the Law and includes advising members and officers, attending Licensing Committees, advising on the implementation of new legislation and dealing with appeals in the Magistrates' Court.
She also deals with criminal investigations and prosecutions in the Magistrates Court
She has a Diploma in Local Government Law and is currently a member of the Planning and Environmental Law Committee of the Law Society as a representative of Local Government lawyers in Wales.
Jayne has been working part time as a Trainer for the Public Health Legal Information Unit for a number of years.
Dave is Principal of D.J.Carr & Co Solicitors. With personality and flair he is an ideal interactive lecturer.
Mick is an Environmental Health Practitioner (Licensing) at South Kesteven District Council. He provides practical - Hands on- training. Consultant with James Button and Co. Formerly head of Legal Services and Monitoring Officer at Milton Keynes. An experienced and accomplished lecturer.
Mark is a Solicitor, and a Consultant with James Button & Co.
He was previously Head of Legal & Property Services, and Monitoring Officer at Milton Keynes Council. Prior to that he worked at the London Borough of Barnet, Manchester City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council and Bedfordshire County Council.
During his Local Government career he has been involved in providing advice on Social Services, Education, Housing, Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Local Government Finance.
As Monitoring Officer he had responsibility for the Council’s Standards Committee, Ombudsman enquiries and the corporate complaints procedure.
Mark has been facilitating training courses for the Public Health Legal Information Unit for a number of years. He is a knowledgeable, engaging and entertaining speaker who always builds a good rapport with course delegates.
Andrew is the County Secretary of Hertfordshire County Council. He has a comprehensive knowledge of council procedures, ethics, data protection and freedom of information. Andrew's local government career has been spent with two county councils and one London Borough. He has been County Secretary and Monitoring Officer with Hertfordshire County Council ( a four star authority) for ten years where he is responsible for Trading Standards, Registration Services and Internal Audit as well as Legal and Democratic Services. He has a particular interest in constitutional law, freedom of information and employment.
Dave is Solicitor to the Council and Monitoring Officer at the City and County of Swansea. With both academic and Local Government experience he is a knowledgeable and engaging lecturer.
David is Solicitor to the Council at the City and County of Swansea and also teaches Administrative and Public Law on a part time basis at the University of Wales Swansea.
He attended the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and University College Cardiff, and was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn before transferring to become a Solicitor. He was also a visiting scholar at Wolfson College, Cambridge in 1992.
He is also Chair of the Institute of Licensing Welsh Region.
His research interests include Public and Administrative Law, Licensing Law and Practice, and the implications of the Human Rights and Data Protection legislation for local authorities.
David is married with a daughter and has many varied interests.
Jackie is a Solicitor, Psychologist and Life Coach. With considerable insight into stress management she is able to provide effective, entertaining courses
